SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) recently hosted an interaction session with Ramesh Mishra, the Regional Director of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). The meeting aimed to foster dialogue and address issues pertinent to the business community in the region.
The Chenab Times has learned that the KCCI, a prominent body representing industrial and commercial interests in the Kashmir Valley, organized the event to provide a platform for its members to directly engage with a senior official from the MCA. Such interactions are crucial for understanding and navigating the regulatory landscape governing businesses.
The discussion likely centered on various aspects of corporate governance, compliance, and the ease of doing business in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials from the MCA are responsible for the administration of the Companies Act, 2013, and the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008, among other corporate laws. Their role includes facilitating compliance, promoting corporate social responsibility, and ensuring transparency in corporate dealings.
The KCCI, through such engagements, seeks to highlight the specific challenges faced by businesses in the valley, including those related to access to finance, market development, and regulatory hurdles. By bringing these issues to the attention of regional directors of central ministries, the chamber aims to advocate for policies and interventions that can stimulate economic growth and development in Kashmir.
Ramesh Mishra, in his capacity as Regional Director, would have provided insights into the MCA’s initiatives and schemes designed to support businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which form the backbone of the local economy. Discussions may have also touched upon digitalization efforts within the MCA, aimed at streamlining processes and improving service delivery to stakeholders.
The business community in Kashmir has often expressed the need for a more supportive regulatory environment that acknowledges the unique economic conditions of the region. The KCCI’s proactive approach in organizing these interactive sessions underscores its commitment to bridging the gap between the business sector and government bodies. The outcome of such meetings often influences policy recommendations and helps in shaping a more conducive business ecosystem.
