Five individuals have been apprehended by the Delhi Police for allegedly posing as aides of a woman’s husband and subsequently robbing her of valuables worth approximately ₹45 lakh. The incident, which took place at Hargovind Enclave in South Delhi on April 13, involved the accused gaining entry into the victim’s house under false pretenses.
Details of the Robbery
According to official statements, three of the accused entered the 35-year-old complainant’s residence, claiming they were sent by her husband. Once inside, they allegedly overpowered and gagged the victim, confining her in a bathroom before assaulting her and fleeing with cash and jewellery. The victim was able to free herself, raise an alarm, and was subsequently admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Investigation and Arrests
The police investigation identified one of the accused, Parthvi Singh, who had a familial connection to the complainant and was familiar with the household. A rapid inter-state operation was initiated, leading to the apprehension of three accused individuals within 12 hours from agricultural fields in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. During interrogation, the accused revealed they had divided the stolen property and handed it over to associates in Alwar. Subsequently, another accused, Ramkaran, was arrested near the Chamunda Mata Mandir, and a portion of the stolen property was recovered from Ramkesh. The share of the absconding accused was also recovered from a forest and dam area.
Recovered Valuables and Prior Offenses
The recovered items included gold bangles, chains, rings, earrings, silver anklets, and other jewellery. The arrested individuals are identified as Parthvi Singh, Laxminarayan Singh, Ranjit Singh, Ramkesh, and Ramkaran Singh, all residents of Rajasthan. Authorities also noted that the accused had previous involvement in burglary and theft cases in Rajasthan. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining absconding accused.
