Sohna, Haryana – A minor altercation at the Ghamroj toll plaza near Sohna on Tuesday morning rapidly devolved into vandalism and assault, resulting in injuries to six toll workers. The incident, which involved a group of over 10 youths, saw the toll office significantly damaged.
Toll Plaza Vandalized After Dispute Over Monthly Pass
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the violence erupted around 11 a.m. when a resident of Sohna, traveling towards Gurugram by car, reportedly engaged in a dispute with a security guard over parking arrangements while attempting to procure a monthly toll pass. The situation escalated when the individual alerted his relatives, who subsequently arrived at the toll plaza with a group and initiated the assault and vandalism.
The attackers, described as more than ten youths, wielded sticks and proceeded to damage the toll office before physically assaulting the employees. Multiple CCTV cameras installed at the toll plaza meticulously captured the entire sequence of events, providing crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Six Workers Injured, Shifted for Treatment
Six toll workers sustained injuries during the violent encounter. They were initially transported to Sohna Civil Hospital for immediate first aid. Following their initial treatment, they were referred to Gurugram for further medical evaluation and care, given the nature of their injuries. The extent of their injuries has not been detailed, but the referral suggests a need for more comprehensive medical attention.
According to the police, an FIR has been registered at the Bhondsi police station against unidentified individuals in connection with the attack. Inspector Surender Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhondsi police station, stated that the police are actively investigating the matter. Efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators with the assistance of the captured CCTV footage. The SHO assured that the accused would be apprehended soon.
The incident highlights a growing concern over the safety of essential service workers and the increasing instances of mob violence fueled by petty disputes. The authorities are expected to take stringent action against those involved to prevent recurrence.
