SRINAGAR: Police in the south Kashmir district of Anantnag conducted a significant anti-encroachment operation on Thursday, demolishing two illegal shop structures in the Larnoo area. The action was taken against individuals identified as alleged drug peddlers.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the joint drive at Gawran Larnoo, a coordinated effort between the police, Revenue Department, and Forest Department, targeted structures believed to belong to Asif Ali Pala, son of Ali Mohammad Pala, and Nisar Ahmad Kasana, son of Bashir Ahmad Kasana, both residents of Mathindoo Larnoo. Officials stated that these structures had been erected illegally on encroached forest land.
The demolition action is part of a broader strategy to dismantle the narcotics network operating in the region. Authorities have indicated that the operation aims to target not only individuals involved in drug trafficking but also any illegal assets or infrastructure that may have been developed using proceeds from criminal activities.
Anantnag Police reiterated their commitment to making the district free from narcotics. The police department stated that stringent legal action will continue to be pursued against all individuals implicated in drug trafficking or who provide support to narcotics-related activities. The move signifies a concerted effort by law enforcement and revenue departments to reclaim encroached land and disrupt the financial underpinnings of the drug trade.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts to address drug peddling in the region, with authorities emphasizing a multi-pronged approach that includes law enforcement action, land reclamation, and the seizure of assets derived from illicit trade. The joint operation demonstrates inter-departmental coordination in tackling organized crime and its associated infrastructural development on public and forest lands.
The focus on dismantling illegal structures is seen as a measure to disincentivize drug peddling by removing tangible assets linked to alleged offenders. This approach aims to have a significant impact on the operational capacity and financial stability of drug trafficking networks within the district. The authorities have pledged continued vigilance and robust action against those who engage in or facilitate such activities, reinforcing their dedication to public safety and the eradication of illegal substances.
Further actions are anticipated as the crackdown on drug peddlers and associated illegal constructions continues in Anantnag and other parts of south Kashmir. The administration remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the well-being of its citizens by actively combating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking.
