Jammu and Kashmir Government Will Collapse Internally, Says BJP Leader Sharma

SRINAGAR: The incumbent government in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is destined to collapse due to its internal contradictions, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will neither be instrumental in its downfall nor in its formation, stated Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and a senior BJP leader.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that Sharma, speaking to reporters in Jammu on Friday, described the political landscape of the Union Territory as unstable. He asserted that the current administration lacked the inherent strength to sustain itself and was on a path to disintegration from within.

Sharma specifically targeted the National Conference, a prominent regional party, suggesting that its political strategy, which was historically anchored in the demand for the restoration of Article 370, now appeared inconsistent. He noted that the party seemed to be sending mixed signals to the electorate regarding its stance on key political issues.

The BJP leader referenced recent political developments, including purported meetings between Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to illustrate what he described as an inconsistency in the National Conference’s position. He added that the party’s clarity and relevance had diminished over time, with a noticeable erosion in its traditional support base.

Furthermore, Sharma alleged that senior leaders of the National Conference, including Farooq Abdullah, had adopted a different tone following recent political engagements, which he interpreted as a sign of a significant shift in the party’s overall stance. The BJP leader also claimed that clandestine efforts were underway to engineer defections from the ruling coalition, while emphatically stating that his party was not involved in any such maneuvers.

“The government will fall on its own. The BJP will neither form it nor make it fall,” Sharma reiterated, expressing his conviction that the current dispensation would not complete its stipulated term. He, however, did not provide any specific timeline for this anticipated collapse.
