Four gates of the Prakasam Barrage in Andhra Pradesh were opened on Monday to release approximately 3,000 cusecs of water downstream. The decision was made following an increase in water inflow from the local catchment area due to recent rainfall.

The gates were opened between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. to manage the surplus water accumulating in the reservoir. Officials stated that the increased inflow necessitated the controlled release of water to maintain safe levels within the barrage.
