SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two individuals in the Kishtwar district, including an employee of the Forest Department, for allegedly providing assistance to militants.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the arrests were made during an ongoing investigation into a case registered at Police Station Kishtwar. The case involves charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and the Arms Act.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Tariq Ahmed Ginoo, who serves in the Forest Department, and Mohammad Iqbal. Both are residents of the Tander area of Dachhan in Kishtwar district. Police have stated that the duo was allegedly involved in facilitating and offering support to local militants.
This development follows the earlier arrest of two other individuals from the Chatroo area in connection with the same case. The police action is part of a broader effort to dismantle militant networks operating in the region.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Naresh Singh, confirmed the arrests, stating they were made after a thorough investigation. He added that efforts are currently underway to identify and apprehend any other individuals who may be connected to this network.
The SSP emphasized that the investigation is continuing and that all individuals found to be involved will face strict legal action in accordance with the law. The police department has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the security of the region.
