Imam apologise for announcing ‘Burn Candles’ from Masjid in Sarthal

In a video, circulating on social media on April 3rd this year, when PM Narendra Modi announced to burn candles, switch on torches, mobile flashlights on April 5 at 9pm for 9 minutes. On PM Modi’s call, many people followed the said announcement. But when a Imam of Masjid in Ladsa area of Sarthal village in Kishtwar district announced the same from speakers of Masjid. The locals belonging muslim community become surprised that how can someone announced to burn candles from Masjid. After the announcement video became viral, many people mostly scholars called the said Imam and asked him to apologise. The reason for the apology was described that ‘Burning Candles’ is against the belief of muslim community, so that the Imam should apologize.
After multiple requests of Islamic Scholars, the Imam of Masjid namely Irshad Ahmed Butt who is also Sarpanch of Panchayat Karool B, visited the masjid again and created a new video — in which he apologised that the announcement was drafted by police, he claims that he had not read it first — he read directly first time when he stands on Mic. He also says that the lockdown announcement is allowed from the masjid but the one line in the announcement which he firstly skipped but the cameraman poked him to say ‘5 April’ line.
In video he also claims that he would speak the 5 April 9pm9minutes line but he announced it by mistake. And he apologizes. But while the apology, the mic was off, according to locals. But the video of apology circulated on social media.
