One suspect arrested in Turkey for starting forest fires, says Erdoğan

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Saturday that a person has been arrested for allegedly starting the country’s ongoing forest fires.

“Milas has only one arrestee. If this is an act of sabotage, we must hold those responsible accountable,” Erdogan made the remarks during a speech at a Mugla province response centre. “It is our responsibility to track down those who set fire to our forests. Turkey will soon erase the traces of these fires, as the Almighty wishes “In a tweet, Erdogan stated (roughly translated).

Wildfires continued to wreak havoc in Turkey, prompting the president to declare the affected areas “disaster zones.”

For the fourth day in a row, Turkish emergency forces have been battling massive forest fires, according to Erdogan’s tweet: “Forest fire-affected areas have been designated as ‘Disaster Areas Affecting General Life.’

We will continue to take all necessary steps to heal our nation’s wounds, compensate for its losses, and improve our nation’s prospects even more than before.

“According to DW News, 88 of the 98 fires that have erupted across several provinces since Wednesday have been put out. The fires are especially bad along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast.

Many areas and hotels have been evacuated, and tourists who were unable to travel due to the fires were rescued by boats.

According to media reports, wildfires in southern Turkey have killed at least four people and injured 183 others, forcing the evacuation of villages and hotels.
