‘Breats cut off, Neck slit’, a Muslim woman allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Delhi

Twitter is flooded with "#JusticeForRabiya" hashtag demanding justice for victim

Rabiya Saifi, a civil defence officer in the Lajpat Nagar District Magistrate’s office, was brutally murdered on August 26 in the national capital after allegedly being gang-raped. Her breasts were allegedly chopped, her neck was sliced, and her private parts were violated, according to her family. Aside from that, she had a number of cut marks all over her body.

According to the authorities, a man named Nizamuddin has confessed to the murder of Rabiya. The man killed her wife at Surajkund Pali Road in Faridabad, Haryana, claiming to be her husband. Surajkund Police Station has received a FIR in this regard.

The family, on the other hand, does not agree with the police interpretation. According to reports, Lajpat Nagar DM office officials may have been implicated in her death because she was aware of corrupt activities taking on on the grounds.

Rabiya had told him and her mother about a secret lock-up inside the DM office, where crores of rupees were held, according to her father, Samid Ahmad. Every day, she claimed, 3-4 lakh rupees would arrive [supposedly through corrupt ways].

Their suspicions have been bolstered by the police’s actions in this instance. The police are not assisting the family, according to her cousin Monis Saifi, and no one from the DM’s office has visited them so far.

”This is a plan to discredit her and offer a different slant to the case,” Monis said of the surrendered man’s murder confession.

He claims that there is no evidence of her marriage to Nizamuddin or anyone else. The police have also failed to offer any proof of their marriage in the last seven days, he said in an interview with Muslim Mirror.

On August 26, he stated, the man surrendered to the police. The police should have presented him in court the following day and requested his remand, but they did not do so for the first eight days. ”If courts can open at night, why can’t remand be taken in one day for the sake of justice?” he wondered.

Rabiya is said to have attended Jamia Millia Islamia. Her family resides in New Delhi’s Sangam Vihar.

The victim’s family has been visited by leaders from numerous political parties, including AIMIM Delhi president Kaleem ul Hafeez. In Sangam Vihar, a rally was organised to demand justice for her. Protests and candlelight vigils have also been organised in other locations.

Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi condemned Delhi police’s silence over the rape and murder of 21-year-old Civil Defense officer in Delhi.

‘A civil defence staffer is brutally raped and muredered in country’s capital and there is an utter pin drop silence by BJP controlled Delhi police ! Hope both the governments won’t bury their heads in the sand like an ostrich and ensure #JusticeForRabiya’, Singhvi tweeted.

Many people flocked to Twitter after hearing about the incident to seek justice for the victim. The victim’s family was greeted by a team from the Bhim Army and the Azad Samaj Party (Kashiram), who assured them of all possible assistance.
