Normalization of relations with the Zionist regime was viewed as a threat to the Arab and Islamic identities by a representative of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
According to Ismail Rizwan, normalising ties with the occupier entity endangers not only the Palestinian cause but also the Arab and Islamic identities. He was speaking to Sawt al-Quds Radio.
He said the move by certain Arab regimes to normalise relations with Tel Aviv was a stab in the back of the Palestinian nation and a crime that encourages the occupiers to commit more atrocities against Palestinians.
Rizwan demanded complete severance of links between those regimes and the Zionists as well as complete isolation of the Israeli regime.
Additionally, he complimented a Bahraini official who had just been sacked for refusing to shake hands with the ambassador of the Zionist regime to the country in the Persian Gulf.
According to Lebanon’s Arabic-language al-Mayadeen television news network, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, president of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, was sacked by Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The row started last month when Sheikha Mai attended a memorial service for her father that was hosted at the home of US Ambassador to Bahrain Steven C. Bondy.
The Bahraini royal family member reportedly withdrew her hand from the Israeli ambassador in Manama, Eitan Na’eh, when they were introducing themselves to the ceremony’s attendees.
According to the report, she left after that and requested that no photographs of her attending the ceremony be released by the US embassy.
Sheikha Mai has almost 20 years of experience doing official duties. She was the first woman to assume the position of information minister in Bahrain.
She also held the position of cultural minister for Bahrain, and Forbes Middle East ranked her as the sixth most powerful Arab woman of 2014.
Shaikha Mai reportedly objected to recent proposals to judaize Old Manama areas, including Bab al-Bahrain and al-Mutanabbi Avenue in the city’s central business district.
