In its war against drug abuse, Jammu and Kashmir police at Doda claimed to have arrested a notorious drug peddler from the Prem Nagar area of Thathri in Doda district.
In a statement issued to The Chenab Times, Doda Police said that a police party headed by PSI Rahul Verma while on patrolling/Naka duty in the Preme Nagar area observed some suspicious movement of one pedestrian. On seeing this, the police party swung into action and apprehended the said suspected person. During the search, 8 grammes of opium and 405 grammes of poppy straw were recovered from his possession. On enquiry, the said pedestrian disclosed his name as Vinay Kumar, son of Nanak Chand, a resident of Udhampur.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 83/2022 has been registered at Police Station Thathri under relevant sections of law, and an investigation into the case has begun.
The arrest of the accused person and recovery of narcotic substances was made under the supervision of Insp. Amrit Katoch, SHO Police Station Thathri, and Abdul Ghafoor, SDPO Bhaderwah.
