Aftershocks persist in the Chenab Valley as yet another earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale with depth of 11km struck the erstwhile Doda region. The tremor occurred at approximately 3:50 am on June 18, 2023, with the epicenter located near Bhaderwah, according to the National Centre for Seismology. This seismic event is the latest in a series of aftershocks following the initial earthquake on June 13th.
The recurring tremors have added to the anxiety among the residents of Chenab Valley, who have been on edge since the first earthquake shook the region with a magnitude of 5.4. Subsequently, The Chenab Times reported multiple aftershocks, including ones measuring 4.2, 2.8, 3.4, 3.5, 4.4 and most recently 4.1, have rumbled through the area, compounding concerns about the stability of the region.
