PM Modi Dismisses Pak-China Objections to G20 Meetings in Kashmir and Arunachal

In a resolute response to objections raised by China and Pakistan regarding the hosting of G20 meetings in the regions of Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that it was natural to hold such conventions in different parts of India. He made these comments in an interview with the news agency PTI on the eve of the G20 summit scheduled for September 9-10.

“Ours is such a vast, beautiful and diverse nation. When G20 meetings are happening, isn’t it natural that meetings will be held in every part of our country?” Prime Minister Modi stated when questioned about the objections from neighboring nations.

The Prime Minister also expressed his surprise at being asked about the message India had sent by hosting foreign leaders in these regions, given the objections from Pakistan and China. He underscored that such a question would only be valid if India had refrained from conducting meetings in these venues.

Prime Minister Modi, who is approaching the end of his second term, reflected on the stability and clarity achieved during his tenure. “Before 2014, the country saw many governments that were unstable and, therefore, unable to get much done. But in the last few years, the people have given a decisive mandate, which has led to a stable government, predictable policies, and clarity in the overall direction,” he remarked.

He further asserted his vision for India’s future, stating, “By 2047, I am sure that our country will be among the developed countries. Our economy will be even more inclusive and innovative. Our poor people will comprehensively win the battle against poverty. Health, education, and social sector outcomes will be among the best in the world. Corruption, casteism, and communalism will have no place in our national life.”

Prime Minister Modi highlighted that India’s rapid and sustained progress had garnered global interest. He explained, “Many countries have been watching our growth story very closely and are convinced that this progress is not an accident but is happening as a result of a clear, action-oriented roadmap of ‘Reform, Perform, Transform’.”

Referring to India’s historical economic prominence, he noted that, for a long time, India was one of the world’s top economies. However, colonization had diminished its global influence. Prime Minister Modi expressed pride in India’s resurgence, stating, “But now, India is again on the rise. The speed with which we jumped five spots, from the 10th largest economy to the fifth largest in less than a decade has conveyed the fact that India means business!”

Prime Minister Modi stressed that the period until 2047 presented a “huge opportunity” for India and its citizens. He urged Indians living in this era to lay the foundation for growth that would be remembered for the next 1,000 years, emphasizing that the quality of life for Indians would be on par with the best countries globally, all while preserving nature and culture.

The Prime Minister also revealed that India would announce a global bio-fuel alliance at the upcoming G20 summit. He cited India’s transition from being a member of global climate change efforts to playing a leading role in initiatives as evidence of its commitment to addressing environmental challenges. India is also actively participating in the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.

As India assumes the G20 Presidency and anticipates hosting over one lakh delegates, Prime Minister Modi believes that many of the world’s solutions are already being successfully implemented in India, demonstrating speed and scale. He emphasized that India’s G20 Presidency had positive impacts, including a shift toward a human-centric approach globally and increased efforts for greater inclusion of the Global South, particularly Africa, in global affairs. He concluded by expressing the commitment to move towards a more representative and inclusive global order where every voice is heard.
