ADDC Kishtwar reviews District Road Safety Preparedness

          Kishtwar, 12 Sept: Today , ADDC Kishtwar Imam din (Nodal Officer District Road Safety Committee) chaired a meeting with members of District Road Safety Committee on Road Safety Action Plan (2018-2020) in his office chamber, New DC Office Complex , Kishtwar.

The meeting was coordinated by Abhay Indu Sharma, ARTO Kishtwar (Member Secretary DRSC, Kishtwar) and attended by members of District Road Safety Committee comprising of ADC, CPO, XENs R&B, CMO, XENs PMGSY,  OC GREF, representatives of NHIDCL, representatives of NGO Ababeel kishtwar besies other officers .

        Threadbare  discussion were held in detail subject to District Road Safety Action Plan (2018-2020 ) like  improving of road marketing and signage’s,  elimination of  high risk stretches, Road Safety Awareness with health checkup of drivers, besides some issues raised by representative of NGO Ababeel like augumentation of critical care ambulance facility, fencing of district hospital and dearth of staff in hospital, demands sufficient availability of free medicine in hospital and various issues related to transport facility.

After threadbare deliberations upon the issues, ADDC gave on spot instructions to concerned line departments.                   

         He directed GM NHIDCL to ensure blacktopping and restoration of kuligad road and make a shed in that slide prone stretch.
Besides GREF authorities were direct to install signages on the spots in a time bound manner where recent accidents took place.

He further directed DTI kishtwar to start passenger challan in district as fine  to curb the problem of overloading beisdes necessary direction were passed regarding rash driving by the ill-experienced drivers as they are the main reason for increasing road accidents.

He laid emphasis to give wide coverage to Road Safety Awareness and Health Checkup,
the idea was to make the next generation aware of the perils of unsafe driving and promote the concept of traffic safety , special stress
 to aware drivers about their role and to aware them about harmful effects of drug addiction.
ARTO was directed to chalk out a calender for spreading awareness and regular road checking and include all the stakeholders in it.

The committee expressed displeasure on the absence of certain core members and conveyed that the role of the committee and implementation of its directions may be carried out in letter and spirit.
The committee further decided to issue ID cards to the volunteers of the NGOs who go to the accident spots and the hospital in order to reduce chaos at these spots and also issued directions to DTI to ensure green corridor for the ambulances when they carry patients for critical care.

Emphasis was laid on awareness and directions were issued to ensure the timebound amelioration of certain critical issued like clearance of boulders from Batote to Sinthan by NHIDCL in a time bound manner and to identify and rectify black spots in their jurisdiction.
