Administration Kishtwar celebrates Women Farmer’s Day

Kishtwar  Women Farmer’s Day  was celebrated at New DC Office Complex Kishtwar.  Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana presided over the function. The programme was  organized by the staff of District Animal Husbandry Office Kishtwar headed

     Among others who participated in the programme included  CAO,  and  CHO , staff of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry Officer and  Information department besides women participants at a large.

The objective of the programme was to highlight and disseminate the vital role played by women in agriculture and diary farm activities, recognizing them as architects of economic development in the capacity of Farmers and also awaring the women about their rights and entitlements.

    Speaking on the occasion  Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana said that rural women majorly contribute in Agriculture and allied activities.

He said the day is celebrated to recognise the immense contribution and power of women in farming activities which is back bone of rural economy.  He further directed the functionaries of concerned department to aware women with regard to innovative techniques in agriculture and allied sectors to create positive boost for the benefits of the Farm women.

Encouraging women participants, he further said that we have to promote and provide platforms for women not only in the field of farming but in all other fields so that tag of weaker section of society given to women from the time immemorial  be removed once for all.

       He laid stress on women participation in large number in ensuing  Panchyat Elections where 33% reservation at Panchayat level are earmarked for women  and he briefied various aspects and powers given to women under Panchayati Raj Act 1989.
