Use your democratic right within moral limits, Don’t destroy your afterlife to make your own or someone else’s world: Mufti Shabir Ahmad Qasmi

Mufti Shabir Ahmad Qasmi, Sadar Mudaris of Jamia Ghani-ul-Uloom Akhyarpur, a well-known academic institution in Doda district, has appealed to the candidates contesting the DDC and by-panchayat elections not to touch moral limits while campaigning. Don’t disgrace anyone, take of your relatives and don’t ruin your afterlife to make someone’s world. In a special speech before the Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid Akhyarpur, he said that the election campaign should be run and one’s own votes should not be wasted. Everyone has a democratic right to use his vote, but this right must be exercised within the bounds of morality. Do not spread hatred in society by blaming and slandering others, and take special care of your brotherhood. For the sake of worldly interests, do not slander one another, do not make fun of anyone, do not insult anyone, don’t use vulgar language and avoid shouting nonsense slogans to tease others as it is against Islamic teachings and faith. He said that unity and harmony is the most important need of the Ummah in today’s era.

“It is very sad that the young and the elderly activists participating in elections forgets the moral values, faith, afterlife and ethics,” he said.

“They are trying to break the Ummah for the sake of petty interests. Relationships like parents and siblings are being trampled on, flames of hatred are being ignited and brotherhood is being weakened. This is completely against the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” he added.

He said that in a democracy, everyone has the right to participate in elections, to try to smooth public opinion in favor of himself or the candidate of his choice, and to use his or her vote as he or she wishes. This does not mean that relationships are not taken care of, moral boundaries are trampled and poison is poured against others. He said that the inhumane things that are seen during elections hurt the heart. No one should be offended under any circumstances. You may disagree with a political leader, you may be affiliated with a political party, but no law give you right to rain accusations and slander on anyone. He said that the beloved companions of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had conquered the world with the power of mutual love, moral exaltation and unity and we should be guided by the example of the Prophet and his companions to create our own or someone else’s world. Our faith and our afterlife should not be spoiled because there is nothing more precious than faith in this world and the life of the afterworld is the real life.
