On Friday, officials from the District Child Protection Unit, the Child Welfare Committee, Police Bandipora, and the Assam State Police reunited a minor child who had been trafficked from Assam with his parents.
According to the Kashmir-based news agency Kashmir News Observer, the child was trafficked from Assam and was discovered in Sumbal by District Police Bandipora, who then brought him before the Child Welfare Committee Bandipora through Protection Officer NIC.
“After arduous efforts by the DCPU, the child welfare committee, and the Bandipora police, his whereabouts were traced, and the state police of Assam and the concerned child welfare committee were notified,” an official said.
He said the child was reunited with his parents after following the law, and praised the role of the child welfare committee, DCPO, DCPU, and Bandipora police.
Gowhar Mahmood, NIC’s protection officer, said that reuniting the child with his parents was a happy moment for Bandipora’s child protection services.
GM Mir, Chairperson of the Bandipora Child Welfare Committee, said: “We must break the chain of human trafficking by keeping a close eye on every suspicious act and incident, and the people of Bandipora should feel free to share any information with us.” Today, we were able to reunite an Assamese child with his parents, who were accompanied by the Assam State Police.”
