Burhan Dar, a social media influencer from Kishtwar, is gaining popularity on social media

Social media platforms have given many stars and influencers to the world. Some influencers are making positive content while some make people cringe. Some are showing their skills, while some do activism. In a similar way, Burhan Dar from Kishtwar district of the Chenab valley in Jammu and Kashmir is doing activism with the help of social media.

Burhan Dar at 23

Dar, 23, is from Kishtwar city in the Kishtwar district of the Chenab valley, according to information obtained by The Chenab Times. Along with pursuing a degree in M.Sc in Radiology, he makes videos on Facebook and YouTube. He currently has 70,000+ followers on his Facebook page, where he is seen mostly active.

Dar makes content on recent events and civic issues in India, especially in Kashmir. He uses social media effectively, from roasting to cringing artists and politicians to creating civic content and raising funds for needy patients.

Dar completed his schooling at Islamia Faridia Educational and Research Institute, Kishtwar, and went to Punjab for higher education. Later, he came back to Jammu and Kashmir to pursue a degree in Radiology.

In 2019, he started his career as a social media influencer in Jammu and Kashmir. The year is referred to as the worst year for new entrepreneurs and influencers in Jammu and Kashmir because of the abrogation of Article 370. The uncertainty, censorship, and communication blockade left the whole state in an open cage. The Modi government was eager to make major changes in Jammu and Kashmir, so they repealed Article 370, which was part of their political platform. The Modi government claims that the removal of special status would lead to the development of Jammu and Kashmir, which was barred due to it till then. The discussion about the removal of special status and new development in Modi’s Naya Kashmir is a topic which can be discussed in separate articles. But the event’s brief discussion was important here because Burhan Dar’s social media page was disabled in the same year.

In December 2020, Dar created a new social media page and started activism again with the help of it. This time he was limited to making videos on local issues and fund-raising for the needy. He goes on, and today he is one of the notable social media influencers in Kashmir.

In 2021, Dar also participated in the farmers protest in Punjab for three months where he was seen delivering speech to farmers and celebrating the victory of the movement.

According to an analysis done by Chenab Times on his overall comments on the Facebook page, Dar’s struggle in the fields of activism and social work is being appreciated by the people as he has made his native Chenab valley proud of his work.
