NEW DELHI, Sept 8 — Anupam Mittal, a prominent investor on Shark Tank India and CEO of Shaadi.com, recently visited Kashmir with his family for a luxury trip costing ₹2 lakh, opting against a ₹10 lakh trip to Switzerland. The visit, reported by Live Mint, took place four months after the Pahalgam terror attack, showcasing what Mittal described as “world-class infrastructure” in the region.
Mittal shared stunning photos from the valley on X, captioning them, “Luxury trip to Switzerland – 10 lacs, Similar trip to Kashmir – 2 lacs, Infinite beauty in your own country – priceless.” He clarified that the trip was driven by emotion, not advertising, when a troll questioned his intent. His post sparked varied reactions, including a pointed comment, “Sir but Switzerland me religion puch ke goli nahi marte” (Sir, in Switzerland, they don’t kill based on religion). Mittal responded sharply, “Thodi tameez rakho bhai” (Have some manners, brother), urging support for the country.
The exchange referenced a recent controversy at Srinagar’s Hazratbal Shrine, where an alleged vandalism of the Ashoka Emblem on a foundation stone ignited debates over national symbols and religious sentiments. Another user asked, “Whats wrong in what he said? Neither they disrespect the country or national emblem.” Mittal countered, “This is not true of the people of Kashmir. Jaa kar dekho, phir bolo” (Go see for yourself, then speak), defending the locals, according to details received by The Chenab Times.
Addressing safety concerns raised by a user noting, “you may not have the security like Anupam,” Mittal revealed he was offered security but declined, traveling with his family. “Kashmir is as safe as can be and if u want to do a service for those who sacrificed their lives, go visit and don’t let the terrorists succeed in their plan. Fear mongering is easy,” he asserted on X.
