Four Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers belonging to the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories) cadre, holding the rank of Deputy Conservator of Forests, have been transferred to various postings. The transfers involve officers designated for segments within the Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir regions.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, Satyaprakash Singh and Atharva Tiwari have been assigned new roles within the Delhi segment. Concurrently, Sandeep Divyajyoti Behera has been transferred and posted to Jammu and Kashmir. The order also notes an extension of Amit Gemawat’s tenure in the Delhi segment for an additional year, where he holds an SDR (Special Duty Reserve) post.
The AGMUT cadre encompasses a broad geographical area, including the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Delhi, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep, and the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, and Mizoram. Officers serving under this cadre are subject to inter-state and inter-territorial postings, facilitating diverse administrative experiences across these regions.
Transfers of senior administrative and forest service officers are routine exercises intended to ensure efficient administration, prevent stagnation, and address varying departmental needs across different administrative units. These movements often aim to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to key positions.
The Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the three All India Services, along with the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS). IFS officers are responsible for the management of the country’s forest resources, wildlife, and related environmental concerns. They play a crucial role in conservation efforts, policy implementation, and sustainable resource management.
The specific segments within Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir to which the officers have been posted will oversee various aspects of forest and environmental administration within those respective jurisdictions. The extended tenure for Amit Gemawat suggests continuity in his role on the SDR post, indicating a continued need for his services in that capacity.
