SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department has ordered the attachment of the In-charge Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Baramulla district with immediate effect, officials announced on Thursday.
The Chenab Times has learned that Abdul Rashid Mir, who was concurrently holding the additional charge of CEO Bandipora, has been directed to report to the Directorate of School Education Kashmir following the directive issued by the competent authority.
According to Government Order No. 159-JK (Edu) of 2026, dated April 23, the decision to attach Mir was made by the competent authority and is effective immediately. The order was issued from the Civil Secretariat in Jammu.
In light of Mir’s attachment, the Joint Director, Education (North) Kashmir, has been assigned the additional responsibility of overseeing the duties previously managed by Mir. This charge will remain with the Joint Director until further orders are issued by the department.
The attachment of a chief education officer signifies a procedural move within the administrative framework of the school education department in the Union Territory. Such actions are typically taken pending further inquiries or administrative realignments. The directive aims to ensure the continuity of administrative functions within the concerned districts.
Abdul Rashid Mir, prior to this order, held significant administrative responsibilities concerning the educational infrastructure and personnel management in both Baramulla and Bandipora districts. His attachment to the Directorate of School Education Kashmir suggests a reallocation of his immediate duties while his position is being managed by another senior official.
The Joint Director of Education (North) Kashmir is a key administrative role responsible for overseeing educational activities and management in the northern region of Kashmir Valley. The addition of the CEO Baramulla’s responsibilities to their portfolio indicates a temporary measure to maintain operational efficiency. The School Education Department, headquartered in the Civil Secretariat in Jammu, issues such orders to manage its human resources and ensure the smooth functioning of educational institutions across the Union Territory.
The administrative procedures followed in issuing such orders are standard within government departments, ensuring that official directives are documented and implemented promptly. The continuity of educational administration is paramount, and the department’s decision reflects an effort to address the current situation without disrupting the essential services provided to students and educators.
