SRINAGAR: Various public and trade delegations met with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar on Thursday, presenting a spectrum of issues related to development, infrastructure, and industry, and calling for policy support and governmental intervention.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that a delegation from the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), headed by its president Arun Gupta, engaged in discussions concerning key trade and commerce matters. The delegation advocated for measures aimed at enhancing the business environment and fostering economic growth within the region.
The JCCI delegation also extended their appreciation to the Chief Minister for the reinstatement of the Darbar Move. They highlighted that this decision had revitalized economic activities in Jammu, particularly benefiting sectors such as markets, rental businesses, hotels, and the transportation industry.
Separately, a deputation representing the Pir Panjal Welfare and Development Trust, led by Vivek Verma, brought forward several developmental concerns pertinent to the Pir Panjal region. This group emphasized the need for targeted attention on the region’s developmental priorities, including the significant tourism potential that they believe requires sustainable promotion efforts.
The Pir Panjal delegation also raised critical issues concerning healthcare and education infrastructure, the provision of adequate drinking water supply, and the imperative of generating employment opportunities for the youth in border areas. Furthermore, they discussed the necessity of constructing community and individual bunkers and strengthening the administrative framework to better serve the populace.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah listened attentively to the concerns voiced by the delegations and provided assurances that their legitimate issues would receive priority attention and be addressed accordingly. He reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to pursuing inclusive development and ensuring responsive governance throughout the region.
The Chief Minister further stated that all matters brought forward by the delegations would undergo thorough examination to facilitate appropriate policy and administrative actions. This engagement underscored the government’s commitment to understanding and responding to the diverse needs of the people across Jammu and Kashmir.
