Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent bloodshed in Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK), extending its solidarity and sharing the grief of the region’s populace.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that CPI(M) leader and Member of the Legislative Assembly from Kulgam, M.Y. Tarigami, stated that no justification exists for the violence that has transpired. He articulated the party’s shared sorrow with the people of PaK during a period marked by loss and repression.
The condemnations follow reports of security forces opening fire on a long march organized by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) towards Muzaffarabad. The incident, which occurred near Rawalakot on Monday, resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals and left scores injured. These events unfolded amidst an internet blackout, power outages, and restricted access to medical facilities. Rights organizations have indicated that the broader protest movement has claimed dozens of lives since June.
M.Y. Tarigami called for an immediate cessation of the use of force against unarmed demonstrators. He further demanded the unconditional release of all detained individuals, unimpeded access to essential resources such as food and medical care, and the initiation of an independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the killings.
The CPI(M) leader appealed to democratic and human rights advocates, both within the region and on the international stage, to express solidarity with the people of Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The party’s statement underscores concerns over human rights and the use of state power against civilian populations.
