A joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has successfully uncovered a cache of explosives and ammunition following the busting of a hideout in the Draba area of Surankote in Poonch district.
The Chenab Times has learned that the operation was initiated on Saturday based on specific intelligence inputs. The forces involved included the Army’s 16 Rashtriya Rifles, the Special Operations Group (SOG) Bufliaz, and the 38 Battalion of the CRPF, who conducted a thorough search of the suspected hideout.
During the intensive search, personnel recovered a significant quantity of arms and explosives. Among the items unearthed were one gamla-type Improvised Explosive Device (IED), one gool-type IED, and four smaller IEDs. Additionally, a Motorola wireless set and seven rounds of AK-47 ammunition were also seized. Officials indicated that this recovery likely averted a potential incident.
The recovery of these materials underscores the ongoing efforts to maintain security and prevent militant activities in the region. Poonch district, situated in the Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir, has been a focal point for security operations aimed at disrupting militant networks and recovering illegal arms and explosives.
