SRINAGAR: A man sustained injuries after being attacked by a bear in the Shiv Dakri area of Khonmoh, on the outskirts of Srinagar, on Sunday, officials reported.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the injured individual was identified as Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rasheed Bhat, a resident of Khonmoh.
Following the attack, Bhat was promptly transported to a local hospital by his family members to receive necessary medical treatment for his injuries. Authorities have acknowledged the incident and are reportedly taking cognisance of the matter.
Wildlife encounters, particularly with bears, have become a point of concern in several areas of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. While often a natural part of the ecosystem, these encounters can pose risks to human safety when human settlements and wildlife habitats overlap.
