Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport apprehended two passengers carrying an estimated Rs 69 lakh in unaccounted cash. The individuals were en route to Guwahati when the seizure was made.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that CISF officers, employing behavioural observation and subsequent CCTV analysis, identified a passenger for a more thorough screening. During this process, another passenger accompanying the first individual was also flagged.
The discovery of the substantial sum of cash was made during the detailed screening of their baggage. Officials stated that the money was found to be in denominations that raised suspicion regarding its origin and purpose.
Following the seizure, the two passengers were handed over to the Income Tax Department for further investigation. The Income Tax officials are expected to probe the source of the funds and the intended use of the unaccounted money. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by security agencies at major transportation hubs to curb the flow of illicit funds and prevent their movement across the country.
