Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin held significant bilateral discussions at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The meeting, which took place ahead of the BRICS Summit, focused on strengthening the multifaceted India-Russia relationship.
According to details available with The Chenab Times, the two leaders reviewed progress across key areas of cooperation, including defense, energy, space, and people-to-people exchanges. This engagement marked their second meeting within a short period, highlighting the consistent dialogue between India and Russia.
The leaders also discussed regional and global developments of mutual interest. Their deliberations covered a wide spectrum of bilateral issues, underscoring the strategic partnership between the two nations. They also assessed the status of bilateral engagements within various multilateral forums such as BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and the G20.
The meeting occurred against the backdrop of the 2023 G20 New Delhi summit, which was held at the Bharat Mandapam from September 9-10. Bharat Mandapam, India’s premier international exhibition and convention center, located within the Pragati Maidan complex, served as the venue for these high-level discussions.
The discussions also touched upon the importance of initiatives like the International Industrial Exhibition “INNOPROM India,” which was held for the first time in India. Both leaders acknowledged its role in expanding trade and industrial ties between the two countries.
This high-level engagement is part of India’s broader diplomatic efforts during its G20 presidency, which aimed to foster dialogue and cooperation on critical global issues. The theme for India’s G20 presidency, ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future,’ resonated throughout the summit and subsequent discussions.
