Google DeepMind has announced Gemini 4 Carbon, its latest frontier artificial intelligence model, positioning it as its strongest offering to date. The new model demonstrates significant advancements in cybersecurity capabilities and the handling of long-horizon tasks, which involve complex, multi-step processes or extended operational periods. Gemini 4 Carbon has achieved the top ranking on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5.0, surpassing previous models and competitors.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, Gemini 4 Carbon was unveiled on October 28, 2026, just two weeks after the release of its predecessor, Gemini 4 Argon. The rapid succession of these releases highlights the accelerated pace of development in the frontier AI landscape. Koray Kavukcuoglu, SVP of Google DeepMind and Chief AI Architect, stated that Carbon is Google’s strongest model yet, emphasizing its state-of-the-art cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities.
In benchmarks, Gemini 4 Carbon leads in key areas critical for cybersecurity defense. It achieved a score of 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for vulnerability detection, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching vulnerabilities. These results indicate a significant leap in the model’s ability to identify, validate, and remediate security weaknesses. Google reports that Carbon more than doubles the success rate for generating secure code compared to Argon and has shown over 10 times better performance than another major frontier model in generating high-quality patches for the Chrome team.
Beyond cybersecurity, Gemini 4 Carbon shows considerable gains in coding and agentic tasks. It ranks highly on various coding benchmarks, including Terminal-Bench 4.0 and SWE-sweep, demonstrating improved performance in complex coding scenarios and multi-day autonomous development workflows. The model has also shown advancements in scientific reasoning and multimodal understanding.
Google is implementing a deliberate rollout strategy for Gemini 4 Carbon, involving the U.S. government’s voluntary pre-release model testing process. Access is initially being granted to a select group of cybersecurity defenders, with gradual expansion to additional trusted partners through the Fairwind Program. The company plans to make Carbon available to developers, businesses, and consumers via its product surfaces as soon as possible, following further feedback and refinement of its guardrails.
The pricing for Gemini 4 Carbon will be the same as Argon’s introductory price: $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input tokens offered at a 95% discount. This pricing structure is intended to facilitate adoption while the model undergoes further testing and integration.
