Gujarat: PM Modi Accuses Congress of Spreading Panic Over West Asia Conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday accused the Congress party of attempting to exploit the West Asia conflict by spreading panic among the populace for political gain, likening their actions to that of “vultures of politics.” He asserted that India has effectively managed the global situation, particularly concerning energy supplies.

The Chenab Times has learned that Prime Minister Modi made these remarks while addressing a large gathering at Nani village in the newly established Vav Tharad district of Gujarat. He alleged that the Congress was engaged in rumour-mongering, attempting to instigate people to queue up at fuel pumps, and thereby create public disorder.

Modi stated that at a time when the nation requires unity and solidarity, the Congress leaders are actively involved in divisive politics. He contrasted this with the nation’s need for reassurance, which he claimed the Congress was undermining by spreading fear and rumours. Furthermore, he accused the opposition of inciting people when restraint was called for.

Elaborating on his “vultures of politics” analogy, the Prime Minister said the Congress party is anticipating and hoping for an escalation of domestic troubles so they can exploit the situation for political dividends. He contrasted India’s situation with that of many other countries currently embroiled in war, unrest, and instability, highlighting India’s resilience and unity.

Addressing the global implications of the West Asia conflict, particularly its impact on energy supplies, Modi acknowledged the intensified global difficulties regarding diesel, petrol, and gas. He maintained that India, however, has successfully kept the situation under control through its robust foreign policy and the collective strength of its citizens.

Prime Minister Modi also expressed his belief that India is poised to emerge as a global leader in the renewable energy sector. He reiterated his criticism of the opposition, accusing them of seeking to spread anarchy and of trying to instigate people to create chaos at fuel stations.

He termed the attempts by some political parties to leverage a global crisis for political mileage as unfortunate, singling out the Congress party as being at the forefront of this alleged political conspiracy. Modi pointed out that while fuel prices have risen significantly in many other nations, India has implemented measures to shield its citizens from the most severe impacts. He asserted that the Congress finds this outcome unacceptable and is actively spreading rumours to foster an atmosphere of fear and create chaos, intending to exploit any resulting public disorder for their propaganda.

The Prime Minister also touched upon the perceived desperation of the Congress to remain politically relevant after being out of power. He further criticized the previous Congress-led governments at the Centre for allegedly delaying the development of the Deesa airbase, describing it as a strategically critical project.

Modi highlighted the proximity of the Deesa airbase to the international border, underscoring its importance for national security. He recalled that the airport project was conceived during his tenure as Gujarat chief minister, with farmers willingly providing their land. However, he stated that the project languished for years due to the approach of the then central government, only gaining momentum after his party came to power at the Centre.

He informed the gathering that a significant Air Force base has now been established in Deesa, which he believes will serve as a catalyst for regional development and strengthen India’s western frontier. Modi concluded this point by stating that the nation would not forgive the Congress for its alleged apathy towards national security during its time in power.

This visit marked Prime Minister Modi’s first to the region since Vav Tharad was established as a separate district in October 2025. During the event, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various development projects valued at approximately Rs 19,806.9 crore, encompassing initiatives under Union ministries and Gujarat government departments. Key projects included those linked to the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Kutch, road sector developments such as the Idar-Badoli bypass and the Dholavira-Santalpur stretch, and railway projects aimed at improving connectivity in Kutch, Saurashtra, and the Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma route.
