Flight operations across several major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, have been significantly impacted by adverse weather conditions over the past several days. Passengers have been advised to check their flight statuses in advance due to potential delays, cancellations, and diversions.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that inclement weather in Delhi, Dehradun, Ranchi, and Kolkata was projected to affect flight schedules. Airlines issued advisories to passengers traveling to and from these destinations, warning of potential inconveniences.
At the Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh, arrivals from Jaipur, specifically flights 6E7718 scheduled for 7:35 am and 6E7516 at 2:35 pm, experienced delays. Additionally, the flight from Dharamsala, 6E7722 at 2:15 pm, also arrived late.
The Air India flight AI2403, which was scheduled to depart from Chandigarh to Delhi at 3:50 pm, was delayed and eventually departed at 4:37 pm. With the forecast predicting thundershowers over Kolkata and Ranchi for the evening, further disruptions to departures and arrivals were anticipated, according to airline officials.
IndiGo Airlines issued an advisory stating, “While our teams are preparing well in advance to keep things running smoothly, the weather may slow things down a touch.” The airline recommended that passengers travelling on the affected day check their flight status on the company’s website or mobile application before proceeding to the airport.
In Mumbai, three SpiceJet flights were cancelled on Wednesday morning citing “operational reasons.” The widespread impact on flight operations, characterized by cancellations, delays, and diversions, has disrupted schedules at major airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, since Tuesday.
Earlier in the week, flight operations were also affected in Leh due to similar weather challenges. These cumulative disruptions highlight the vulnerability of air travel to meteorological disturbances across various regions of the country.
