The return phase of Haj flights for pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir is set to commence on June 2, with the first aircraft scheduled to land at Srinagar International Airport. The Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee has issued specific baggage guidelines for the returning pilgrims to ensure a seamless process.
The Chenab Times has learned that according to communications from the Hajj Committee of India and Akasa Airline, the initial three Haj flights will arrive at Srinagar between June 2 and June 4. These flights are expected to land between 12:45 pm and 12:55 pm.
Due to NOTAM restrictions and operational requirements for aircraft carrying significant loads, the luggage for returning pilgrims originating from Ahmedabad will be transported to Srinagar by road. The immigration and customs clearance for these pilgrims will be completed prior to their departure from Ahmedabad.
The Haj Committee has outlined a detailed baggage policy for the pilgrims. Each individual will be permitted one piece of hand baggage weighing a maximum of 7 kilograms. For the flights directly bound for Srinagar, the check-in baggage allowance per pilgrim has been capped at 5 kilograms.
Baggage exceeding the 5-kilogram limit for check-in, up to a maximum of 30 kilograms per pilgrim, will be handled as separate cargo and transported by road from Ahmedabad to Srinagar. This arrangement aims to manage the weight distribution on the flights while ensuring all pilgrim belongings reach their destination.
Pilgrims travelling as part of groups and covered under the same administrative arrangement have been advised to consolidate their check-in baggage. This measure is intended to facilitate easier handling and coordination upon arrival at the airport.
Officials have stated that these arrangements are being put in place to streamline the arrival operations at Srinagar International Airport. The focus is on ensuring a smooth and efficient facilitation process for all returning Haj pilgrims after their spiritual journey.
The annual Haj pilgrimage is a significant religious event for Muslims worldwide, and the return journey involves complex logistical planning to ensure the safety and convenience of thousands of pilgrims travelling from various destinations back to their homes.
The Hajj Committee plays a crucial role in coordinating these movements, working with airlines, airport authorities, and ground handling agencies to manage the influx of pilgrims. The guidelines issued are part of a comprehensive plan to address potential challenges and ensure the successful completion of the arrival phase.
The specified dates and timings are critical for airport operations, requiring coordinated efforts from all stakeholders involved in the arrival process. The road transportation of excess baggage from Ahmedabad is a logistical solution to overcome flight weight limitations.
Pilgrims are expected to adhere to the guidelines to prevent any last-minute complications or delays during their return journey. The smooth return of pilgrims is a priority for the authorities, ensuring they can complete their religious obligations without undue stress.
The arrival phase marks the culmination of the pilgrimage for those from Jammu and Kashmir, bringing them back to their families and communities after their sacred journey to Mecca and Medina.
