The Punjab Police has successfully dismantled a sophisticated gangster module that was reportedly operating under the direction of handlers based abroad. Three operatives have been apprehended in connection with the module, and authorities have seized three foreign-made sophisticated pistols along with a significant quantity of ammunition.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the operation was a joint effort by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, and the Counter Intelligence unit from Jalandhar. The two state agencies collaborated closely with a central intelligence agency to achieve this breakthrough against organized crime networks.
A senior police official announced the development, stating that the busts were a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to curb the influence of gangster networks and disruptive elements within the state. The recovered weapons, described as sophisticated and foreign-made, indicate a serious level of operational capacity and external support for the apprehended individuals.
An FIR has been registered at the SSOC police station located in Amritsar, marking the commencement of formal legal proceedings against the arrested operatives. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were acting under explicit instructions from gangsters operating from outside India. These foreign-based handlers are allegedly involved in various criminal activities within Punjab, including instigating gang wars and orchestrating extortion rackets.
The investigation further revealed that the arrested individuals were tasked with transporting weapon consignments and executing criminal acts as directed by their international handlers. The nature of the criminal activities they were involved in points towards a coordinated effort to destabilize law and order in Punjab. Authorities are working to uncover the full extent of the network and identify all individuals involved, both within and outside the country.
In addition to their involvement with the foreign-linked module, the arrested individuals have been linked to at least two other serious criminal cases. These include a murder case that was registered in Amritsar and an attempted murder case that occurred in Batala. The corroboration of these links suggests a pattern of violent criminal behavior by the operatives, facilitated by their external support system.
Further investigations are currently underway, with police seeking to ascertain the complete operational details, the source of the weapons, and the financial channels used by the handlers.
