New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer keys for 84 subjects of the University Grants Commission–National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) examination conducted for June 2026. The agency announced on Sunday that candidates can access these keys and raise objections through an online portal.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the window for submitting challenges opened on August 16 and will remain accessible until August 18, closing at 11:59 PM. A non-refundable processing fee of Rs 200 per question challenged is required, with the deadline for fee payment also set for August 18 at 11:59 PM.
For three specific subjects – English, Commerce, and Sociology – a special committee has been constituted to review complaints regarding potential errors in the question papers. The NTA stated that a separate public notice detailing the outcomes and decisions related to these three subjects would be issued later on Sunday, based on the committee’s recommendations.
Candidates have been strongly advised by the NTA to rely exclusively on information disseminated through the official NTA website and its verified social media channels to avoid misinformation. The agency emphasized the importance of carefully reviewing all details and utilizing the official portal for submitting any challenges.
The UGC-NET examination serves as a crucial assessment to determine the eligibility of candidates for appointment as Assistant Professors and for admission to PhD programmes across various institutions in India. The examination structure typically includes two papers: Paper I, which consists of 50 questions covering teaching aptitude, reasoning ability, and general awareness, and Paper II, comprising 100 multiple-choice questions directly related to the candidate’s chosen subject.
Additionally, the NTA confirmed that candidates who appeared for the joint CSIR UGC NET June 2026 examination can also access the provisional answer key and the corresponding challenge window. This examination is conducted to determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF), Assistant Professor positions, and PhD admissions.
The joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 examinations were held on July 17 and 18. These tests were conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across numerous centres nationwide. The results of these examinations are vital for aspiring researchers and academics seeking to pursue higher studies and secure teaching positions in Indian universities and colleges.
