Allotted in 2019, a primary school in ward no 5 Masrunda of Pyt Halaran in Doda district is still waiting for admission approval from the education department.
Speaking to CT, Naib Sarpanch Pyt Halaran Ch. Mohd Sharif said they have no school around 10 km of the radius in the area.

“Our children have to walk for 3 hours on foot to reach nearby school which directly impacts the study of our children. They can’t study properly due to fatigue by walking such distance to reach school on daily basis,” Sharif said.
“A primary school was allotted in 2019 but it is yet to be open for admissions. Around 40-50 students of this village are suffering for the want of a school,” he said.
Another resident Mohd Hussain said, “We don’t want our children to remain illiterate like us as no one is educated in our village. We lived a life of illiterate like an ancient man but we want to secure the future of our children.”
Locals said the residents of Masrunda village had donated the land for a school building in 2019 but neither school building nor admission approval had been processed properly at ground level.
Meanwhile, Zonal Education Officer Thathri, Mir Ali said that he is out of the station and can’t comment on this issue.
