Kashmir: 10-Day Da’wah Campaign Organized By Islamic Fraternity At Pahalgam Concludes

On Tuesday, the Islamic Fraternity (IF), a non-profit organisation that works in the fields of Da’wah, education, and social welfare, concluded its ten-day Da’wah programme in Pahalgam.

The organisation set up a tent and multiple Dawah tables in Pahalgam, where dozens of volunteers distributed Islamic literature, particularly the Holy Qur’an in multiple translated versions, in order to dispel non-Muslims’ misconceptions about Islam. According to the Fraternity spokesperson, the tourists were also served traditional Kashmiri Kehwa.

According to him, the programme was part of a series of campaigns launched by the Islamic Fraternity to raise awareness about Islam among non-Muslims and to counter propaganda created by “biassed” media against Islam around the world.

In addition to the Dawah camp at Pehalgam, IF volunteers from several districts in Kashmir launched a mass campaign to raise awareness of COVID protocols and distributed free masks to tourists and locals.

The president of Islamic Fraternity Kashmir, Muhammad Aamir, stated, “The main goal of organising such programmes in the valley is to remove misconceptions and to give the true message of Islam.”

In the event of an emergency, an ambulance service was also made available.

People, particularly locals, praised the organisation for its efforts to counter anti-Islam propaganda, “particularly by a section of the media trying to demonise Islam and weaken Muslims around the world.”
