Rajouri Youth’s ‘Brutal Murder’: Police Forms Special Investigation Team

Officials said police constituted a Special Investigation Team on Wednesday to look into the “brutal murder” of a 28-year-old youth in the Chakli region of Rajouri district yesterday night.

“On August 11, 2021, information was received that some unknown persons entered the residence of one Bachan Lal (at) Chakli during the night and attacked his son, Ankush Bakshi, with sharp edged weapons, killing him on the spot as a result of his injuries,” a police official said in a statement.

According to police, a case (FIR No. 538/20210) has been filed at PS Rajouri under sections 302 and 458 of the Indian Penal Code, and an investigation has begun.

“A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by DySP headquarters in Rajouri has been formed to expedite the case’s merits investigation,” the police noted.

According to reports, unknown perpetrators broke into the youth’s home and stabbed him to death while he was sleeping about 1 a.m.

Later, a police team arrived on the scene and discovered “weapons of offence.” The body was also taken into custody by the police team for medical and legal reasons.

Earlier, family members protested on the Rajouri-Poonch highway, joined by relatives and neighbours, asking that those responsible for the “brutal murder” be brought to justice. After guarantees from senior officials from the civil and police administration, including Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Rajesh K Shavan and SSP Sheema Nabi Qasba, the protesters dispersed.
