Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and taking stringent action against drug peddlers, Doda Police has launched a massive hunt against narcotics peddling in the district and in the month of January-2022, five (05) FIRs have been registered, in which five (05) people have been arrested at Doda, Bhaderwah, and Gandoh.
Police said that on Thursday, one drug peddler, namely Shri Kant, son of Garib Dass, resident of Angnool Gandoh, was arrested and a case FIR 4/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered against him at Police Station Gandoh and an investigation into the case has been set into motion.
Prior to this, three cases were registered at Police Station Bhaderwah, with FIR Nos. 1/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act dated 01-01-2022, FIR No. 8/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act dated 06-01-2022, and FIR No. 12/2022 U/S 8(a) 21/22 NDPS Act dated 20-01-2022, in which three people, namely Anoop Kumar son of Kamal Singh resident of Dhamund, Umaiz Manzoor son of Manzoor Ahmed resident of Killa Mohalla Bhaderwah and Hans Raj son of Gori Lal resident of Seri Bhalla have been arrested.
Similarly, one FIR 8/2022 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act dated 11-01-2022 has been registered at Police Station Doda in which one person, namely Sulinder Kumar, son of Hans Raj resident Sindra Chakrabhati, has been arrested.
The drive against drugs in the district is going on under the overall supervision of SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom and the police are committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from the district and all efforts are being made to curb the menace of drugs from society.
SSP Doda appealed to the general public to cooperate with the police by way of sharing inputs related to drug peddling so that culprits are brought to book.
SSP Doda also appealed to the general public to take care of their children and do their counselling so that they may not fall prey to drug abuse.
It is pertinent to mention here that the whole initiative regarding the eradication of the drug menace in the district has been taken under operation SANJEEVANI on the directions of the Dy. Inspector General of Police of Chenab Valley.
