In a first, Yawar Khan Sports Club defeated Tawi Cricket Academy in a One-Day-Three Match Bilateral Series Edition 2 by 2-1, held at Country Cricket Stadium Ambh-Gharota Jammu from 9th to 11th February.
In this series, Yogesh Sikka was declared the man of the series, who scored 170 runs, while the best bowler was Aqeeb Khan, who took 7 wickets, followed by the second best bowler, Mohsin Zargar, who took 6 wickets in the series. All these belong to the Yawar Khan Sports Club.
In the first match of the series, TCA defeated YKSC by 10 runs, and Ahsan of TCA was declared man of the match. YKSC came back strong in the second match and defeated TCA by 6 wickets, levelling the series at 1-1 in which Yogesh Sikka was declared man of the match, scoring a brilliant 90 runs and taking wickets and leaving the fate of the series on the 3rd and final match.
In the final batting order, YKSC scored 165 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, with Yogesh Sikka and Irtaza scoring 80 and 28 runs respectively.
While chasing, TCA was reduced to 15/3 by the bowling spell of Yawar Khan and Aqeeb Khan, but Sachin Thakur and Karan fought and bought TCA back into the game, taking the score to 100/3. YKSC then came back with a brilliant runout by captain Sohil, following which TCA was reduced to 155/9. Sachin was the highest scorer for TCA, while Yawar Khan and Aqib Khan took 3 wickets each. Sohil took the last wicket of Huzaif to finish the job for YKSC.
In an exclusive conversation with Chenab Times, YKSC founder and chief, Yawar Khan, said, “I am feeling proud that our sports clubs from our Chenab region, especially Thathri, are organising these kinds of tournaments which encourage our youth for sports, especially cricket, to show their talent at a higher level.”
It is pertinent to mention that the teams from the Chenab region usually experience the Mate pitch, but this time the series was played on the turf field.
