A man was booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Doda for bovine smuggling, as he was involved in about seven FIRs registered against him, according to police.
According to a police statement issued to The Chenab Times, Doda Police said that a notorious bovine smuggler, namely Mohd Amin, son of Mohd Ibrahim, resident of Manjmi Dessa Tehsil Bhagwah, has been detained under PSA for his involvement in a number of bovine smuggling cases. The subject was involved in seven FIRs registered against him at Police Station Doda for bovine smuggling.
The statement further said that Doda Police has launched a special drive under Operation Kamdhenu against the bovine smugglers and this year (20) cases of bovine smuggling have been registered so far, in which (51) people have been arrested, (05) vehicles involved in transportation of bovines have been seized, and (315) bovine animals have been rescued.
Doda Police also said that they sought cooperation from the general public so that bovine smuggling, which is a serious issue and has the potential to create law and order, can be rooted out. Doda Police has also warned the smugglers that if they continue to smuggle bovine, they will face harsh legal consequences.
