District Administration Doda Fixes New Rates for Essential Commodities to Ensure Affordable Prices for Consumers

The District Prices Controller (Deputy Commissioner), Vishesh Paul Mahajan, JKAS, has issued a notification regarding the revision and refixation of retail rates of essential commodities within the jurisdiction of District Doda. The new rates will come into effect from today, April 13, 2023.

The notification has superseded the previous orders/notification issued by the District Prices Controller, Doda, from time to time. The new rates have been fixed under the powers conferred vide S.O. 145 (E) dated: 15-02-1990 under Sub clause 4 of clause A of the said SRO issued by the Ministry of Food and Civil Supplies, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

As per the notification, the new rates for Live Sheep/Goat have been fixed at Rs. 195/- per kg, while Mutton Safi and Ojri will cost Rs. 450/- and Rs. 160/- per kg, respectively. The rates for Offal Legs and Offal Head have been fixed at Rs. 170/- and Rs. 150/- per kg, respectively.

The new rates for Chicken Broiler, including dressing charges, up to 1.50 Kg and above 1.50 Kg, have been fixed at Rs. 140/- and Rs. 125/- per kg, respectively. The rate for Chicken Meat (Ready to Cook) without skin has been fixed at Rs. 210/- per kg.

The rates for Milk and Curd have been fixed at Rs. 45/- and Rs. 50/- per kg, respectively, while Cheese will cost Rs. 250/- per kg.

The Tehsildar concerned, AD FCS&CA, Designated Food Safety Officer, Executive Officer MCs, Asstt. Controller Legal Metrology Doda, and TSO concerned have been directed to ensure the implementation of the notified rates in letter and spirit. The hygienic conditions must be maintained in the retail outlets, and electronic weighing systems must be installed while keeping the display visible to the consumer. No manual weighing machines will be allowed.

Rate lists shall be displayed at prominent places at each shop for the convenience of the consumers. Any deviation in the laid down conditions shall be dealt with strictly as per the law. The rates shall be duly published in print/electronic (social media).

The notification is aimed at ensuring that consumers get essential commodities at reasonable rates and in hygienic conditions. The district administration has appealed to the people to cooperate with the authorities in implementing the new rates.
