ARTO Doda Conducts Successful Enforcement Drive on Doda-Thathri-Gandoh Route

Team ARTO Doda recently carried out a highly effective enforcement drive on the Doda-Thathri-Gandoh route, resulting in the inspection of 120 vehicles. The operation, which primarily targeted overloading and overcharging, aimed to raise awareness among vehicle operators at Thathri, Bhatyas, and Gandoh about the importance of adhering to traffic rules in order to prevent any untoward incidents on the hilly roads.

During the enforcement drive, a total of 42 vehicles were found to be in violation of various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and were subsequently issued challans. Additionally, 12 vehicles were instantly compounded on the spot, resulting in the collection of fines amounting to Rs 11,500. The violations discovered during the operation encompassed a range of offenses, including the absence of High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on one vehicle, a driver using a mobile phone in contravention of Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, three vehicles not compliant with Pollution Under Control (PUC) norms as per Section 190(11), and the seizure of three vehicles (two in Kahara and one in Thathri).

Moreover, six vehicles were found to be operating out of their designated routes under sections 66/192A, four vehicles were overloaded, four vehicles had unauthorized alterations under section 52/177, five vehicles lacked proper fare lists, four riders were riding without helmets, one vehicle was without a Side Load Device (SLD), two vehicles were uninsured, seven drivers were caught without seat belts under section 194(B), and one driver was not wearing a uniform. In total, 42 vehicles were issued challans, and an amount of Rs 11,500 was collected on the spot as compound fines.

By placing specific emphasis on overloading and overcharging, the team aimed to prevent accidents and generate awareness among vehicle operators regarding the significance of abiding by traffic rules.
