Dangri Terror Attack Victims’ Families Seek Justice, Announce Protest on Jammu-Poonch Highway

Family members of the seven individuals tragically killed in a terror attack earlier this year in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district have voiced their frustration over what they perceive as a delay in action by security agencies regarding the incident. The victims’ families have now called for a protest scheduled for September 4, seeking justice for their loved ones.

On January 1 of this year, a terror attack shook Dangri village in Rajouri, leaving seven people dead and 13 others injured. The assailants, believed to be terrorists, unleashed indiscriminate gunfire and also planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which detonated the following morning.

Authorities have reported that two of the terrorists involved in the attack were neutralized, and two more were apprehended. Responding to the families’ concerns, the Police Media Centre Jammu, through their official ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) account, stated, “Two terrorists killed so far. Two arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA). We are committed to completely resolving this terror attack.”

Saroj Bala, a grieving mother who tragically lost both her sons in the attack, took to a public address system to appeal for support during a protest planned at Muradpur on the Jammu-Poonch National Highway. She emphasized the urgent need for justice, saying, “Eight months have already passed since the terror attack, but we are still waiting for justice. We request everyone to join us in the protest on September 4.”

While the government has provided monetary compensation of ₹10 lakh and employment opportunities to the families of each victim, Saroj Bala expressed that no amount of compensation can ever replace their lost children, stating, “We do not need all this. No compensation is enough for our children who have gone forever.”
