Around 40 goats and sheep perished in a devastating lightning strike that struck the highlands of Doligam/Hinjhal Top in Banihal, Ramban district, last night, as reported by the news agency GNS. Local authorities swiftly responded to the incident, dispatching a police team and personnel from the relevant department to the remote village upon receiving the distressing news.
While the exact number of casualties is still being investigated, preliminary reports from the owner of the livestock, who hails from Anantnag district, indicate that as many as 80 animals may have been lost. However, official confirmation has been provided for approximately 40 casualties at this time.
Comprehensive assessments are currently underway at the site, with teams working diligently to compile a detailed report.
