After weeks in the hospital, Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party and three-time chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, passed away this morning. He was 82.
Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayam Singh’s son, was quoted by the Samajwadi Party as stating, “My respected father and everyone’s Neta-ji has passed away.”
At Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital, Mulayam Singh had been in serious condition for days and was receiving life-saving medication. Six weeks from that, he would turn 83, as per sources of The Chenab Times.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, one of the first to pay respect, tweeted, “Mulayam Singh Yadav’s death pains me; he was a remarkable personality and was widely admired as a humble and grounded leader.”
