In a horrific incident, a two-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her stepmother in Keshwan area of Kishtwar district. The incident came to light when the girl was reported missing by her biological mother, and the police were informed, as per video report on The Chenab Times. A special investigation team was constituted, which worked tirelessly to solve the case.
The police arrested the stepmother, Zahida Begum, who admitted to committing the murder during sustained interrogation. She allegedly dumped the body of the deceased in a forest area. The police were able to recover the body of the minor girl, along with the weapon of offence.
The motive behind the commission of the murder is being ascertained by the investigation agency, and the accused has been charged with Section 302 IPC.
The district police have expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased and have assured them that justice will be served. The body of the minor girl has been brought to the District Hospital Kishtwar for conducting an autopsy, and a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory is being called in for collection of evidences on scientific lines.
This shocking incident has once again brought to light the need for greater awareness and action against domestic violence and child abuse. The society must come together to ensure the safety and security of women and children, and to provide support to those who are victims of such crimes. The government must also take steps to strengthen the laws and law enforcement agencies to prevent such heinous crimes from occurring in the future.
