Doda District Gears Up for Holy Kailash Yatra, Set to Begin on September 11th

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, joined by SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, held a crucial meeting today at Dak Banglow Bhaderwah to finalize preparations for the forthcoming Kailash Yatra.

President of Sanathan Dharam Sabha Bhaderwah, during the meeting, outlined the dates and schedules for the upcoming Kailash Yatra in the district. He affirmed that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra. One of the key requests made was for the installation of generators at haltage points where the Holy Mace stays overnight. Responding promptly, the DDC issued immediate directives to make this provision.

It was disclosed during the meeting that firewood has been procured and the route has been improved for the Yatra. Last year, an impressive 35,000 pilgrims made the pilgrimage to this sacred place. This year, the numbers are expected to swell, with over 50,000 devotees anticipated to pay their respects during the Kailash Yatra.

The President of SDS, Kailash Yatra, informed that this year’s Yatra is scheduled to be held from September 11th to September 12th, 2023.

DDC Mahajan and SSP Abdul Qayoom assured the devotees of foolproof security arrangements being put in place for the pilgrimage. They emphasized the availability of drinking water, the presence of medical staff along the Yatra route, accommodation provisions for pilgrims, transportation arrangements, the supply of firewood at Yatra venues, and the availability of power through generators, among other facilities. The DDC also addressed concerns raised during the meeting and instructed officers to ensure that all arrangements are in place well in advance.

Furthermore, the DDC urged officers to educate Yatris on maintaining the cleanliness of the Yatra venues and using the provided dustbins at different halt points.

The meeting witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including BDC Chairman Omi Chand, DDC Councilor Yudhvir Singh, ADC Bhaderwah Chowdhary Dil Mir, SE PWD, ACD Doda, GM DIC, DFO Bhaderwah, CAHO Doda, Tehsildar Bhaderwah, BDO Bhaderwah, Xen R&B Bhaderwah, and various other district and sectoral officers. Representatives from various departments and trusts, including the Sanathan Dharam Sabha Bhaderwah and Kailash Sewa Sangh, were also in attendance.
