Assam Rifles Distributes Solar Lights, Power Banks in Chenab Valley’s Gundna

Jammu, June 26 — In a bid to bolster community welfare and foster civil-military relations, the 25 Assam Rifles, under the ambit of Project Sadhbhavna, carried out a humanitarian outreach programme in Gundna tehsil of Doda district in Chenab Valley, distributing solar lights and power banks to local residents.

The initiative, aimed at addressing the persistent challenges faced by people living in remote and underserved areas with limited access to reliable electricity, was conducted as part of the Indian Armed Forces’ sustained efforts to promote inclusive development and goodwill among civilians.

According to a statement issued by the Army to The Chenab Times, the distribution drive was designed to mitigate the hardships encountered by families in off-grid settlements, where power outages and lack of charging infrastructure frequently disrupt daily life. The solar lights and power banks are expected to significantly improve household efficiency, communication access, and safety—particularly for women, children, and the elderly.

Approximately 150 residents attended the event and welcomed the assistance with gratitude. Local elders, students, and women noted the practical benefits of the distributed items, especially in the realms of education, security, and connectivity.

Project Sadhbhavna is the Indian Army’s flagship programme dedicated to supporting socio-economic development and reinforcing harmony in frontier and sensitive regions.
