Srinagar Airport Runway Renovation to Restrict Flight Operations April-July

Srinagar Airport Faces Operational Curbs for Runway Upgrades

Flight operations at Srinagar International Airport are set to be temporarily restricted between April and July to facilitate essential runway works, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced.

The Chenab Times has learned that a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Indian Air Force indicates that runway renovation activities will commence in the first week of April. These works will necessitate a reduction in operational hours for scheduled flights, limiting them until 5 p.m. daily from April 6 to July 31. The AAI Srinagar shared this information via its official X handle.

Currently, Srinagar airport handles approximately 60 flight movements, comprising both arrivals and departures, between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. The upcoming restrictions mean that while the airport’s operational watch hours will be shortened, airlines are expected to manage flight schedules in accordance with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-approved Summer Schedule within the revised timings.

The Airports Authority of India stated its commitment to ensuring safe, efficient, and seamless travel for all passengers. Authorities have advised travellers to stay updated on flight information through official channels and to disregard unverified reports.
