SRINAGAR: A 26-year-old labourer died and another sustained injuries when a concrete slab collapsed during the demolition of a residential house in the Sharshali area of Khrew in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the incident occurred around noon while the two labourers were engaged in the demolition work and were caught under a falling concrete slab.
The injured labourers were immediately rushed to Sub-District Hospital Pampore for medical attention. Mohammad Younis Bhat, 26, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat, a resident of Sharshali Khrew, was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital due to critical injuries sustained in the collapse.
The other labourer, identified as Tariq Ahmad Lone, 32, son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone, also a resident of Sharshali Khrew, suffered minor injuries and is currently receiving treatment. The authorities have confirmed that his condition is stable.
Local police have registered a case concerning the incident and have commenced an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse. Further details are awaited as the inquiry progresses.
